The Studio

One studio.
One point of
view.

Yellow Mustards is not trying to be an agency. It is a studio: one experienced person, a focused set of services, and a clear position on what good digital work looks like.

The Story

From Hisar to Harbour City.

Yellow Mustards started in 2013 in Hisar, India, as a one-person digital practice. The name came from something simple: mustard fields are everywhere in that part of Haryana, and yellow was always the colour of energy, sharpness, and standing out.

The work grew. Clients across India, then Southeast Asia, then education institutions in the Caribbean. In 2020, the studio moved to Sydney, bringing 7 years of craft into a new market, with a sharper focus: Australian small businesses that deserve digital work as good as the big brands get.

The model has never changed. One senior person. No junior handoffs. No templates. No sales pitch, then someone else delivers.

The Real Bosses

The inspiration
behind the work.

Every brief deserves the best possible work. These two are the reason that bar is set where it is. They have also never once paid an invoice.

We're Hiring

Join the Mustard crew.

Small team. Serious clients. Zero tolerance for boring work. If you think websites are just pretty pictures, we are probably not the right fit. If you lie awake thinking about UX flows and what AI will do next, let's talk.

Full-time · On-site

Client Project Manager

Gurugram, India
  • An exciting, fast-paced role at a boutique digital studio where no two projects look the same and your ideas will genuinely shape how clients experience the work.
  • You will manage concurrent client projects across web design, AI tools, and brand identity — holding timelines, managing expectations, and keeping the team honest.
  • You are genuinely passionate about AI, what it means for small business, and the direction the digital world is heading. You read things nobody asked you to read.
  • You have strong opinions about new ice cream flavours. And you are not afraid to share them. (Seriously. This matters. Bland opinions in, bland work out.)

Full-time · Hybrid

UI Developer

Melbourne, Australia
  • A hands-on role building beautiful, performant, and accessible websites for Australian small businesses that are ready to compete properly online.
  • You write clean HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. You have opinions about semantic markup, WCAG compliance, and Lighthouse scores — and you care whether they are good.
  • You are curious about where AI fits into the build process — not scared of it. You have already experimented. You want to experiment more.
  • You try new things for fun. New tools, new frameworks, new flavours. You bring that energy to the work without being reckless about it.

Questions we actually get asked.

Either way works, and both are common. Option 1: You purchase the domain yourself (we recommend GoDaddy, Namecheap, or Crazydomains for Australian domains) and give us access to point it at your new site. You retain full ownership, which we prefer. Option 2: We source and purchase the domain on your behalf. Domain fees plus a one-off consulting charge apply for this service. Either way, the domain is always registered in your name or your business name, never ours.
Absolutely, and we encourage it. We have seen many clients step up and make small updates to their sites confidently and successfully. Every website budget includes one hour of online training so you know exactly what to touch and what to leave alone. If life gets busy (it always does), that is completely understood. Simply share the updates you need with the team and Yellow Mustards will handle them. Changes are logged and managed through our Jira Service Management (JSM) system: you raise a work item, you are notified at every stage (in progress, under review, tested, deployed), and nothing goes live without a clear trail. JSM also gives you full visibility into what is open, what is done, and what is coming next — no chasing emails, no guessing.
We follow a structured production installation process for every update. For critical businesses (banks, financial services, healthcare), all production changes happen after hours to minimise impact. The process:
  • Every change is built and tested in a development environment first
  • You or your team sign off on the dev environment before anything touches production
  • The production update is planned, scheduled, and communicated in advance
  • Immediately after the production install, your team runs a smoke test or full regression test and provides sign-off
  • If any P1 issues, discrepancies, or unexpected behaviour are found post-install, Yellow Mustards rolls back all changes immediately and opens a review cycle
The rollback is not a last resort — it is a defined, practised step in the process. We treat it the same way every time.
We use a Hybrid Agile model: structured phases with the flexibility to adapt as the project evolves. A typical engagement runs through the following stages:
  • Discovery: Understanding your business, your clients, your market, and what the site needs to achieve
  • Project Planning & Kick-off: Scope confirmation, timeline, responsibilities, and communication cadence agreed in writing
  • Design: Wireframes first, then high-fidelity Figma mockups. Two rounds of structured feedback.
  • Test Environment Install: Site built and deployed to a staging environment for internal review
  • Internal Testing: Yellow Mustards tests across devices, browsers, and accessibility standards
  • UAT (Dev): You and your team test the staging site and raise any issues via JSM
  • Production Install: Approved build deployed to the live environment, planned and scheduled
  • Production UAT: Smoke test on live, sign-off from you
  • Go-live: Site live, DNS confirmed, Analytics and Search Console active
  • Post Go-live Warranty: One week of covered fixes for any issues arising from the launch
  • Post Go-live Support: Ongoing via JSM. Raise a ticket, we respond, you track progress end to end
Every project in JSM means you always know exactly where things stand. No surprises.
Healthcare clinics, mortgage brokers, financial planners, real estate agents, allied health professionals, wellness businesses, legal and accounting firms, and trades businesses with one to twenty staff. We also work with education institutions and B2B professional services. If your business relies on trust, reputation, and referrals — which most of our clients do — we understand your market well.

What we actually believe.

01

Strategy first, always.

A website is not a design problem. It is a business problem that design solves. We understand the business before we open Figma.

02

Senior work is non-negotiable.

You will speak to the person who designed your site, who wrote your copy, and who deployed your code. There is no account manager between us.

03

Honesty over comfort.

If your brief is off, we will say so. If a template would genuinely serve you better, we will tell you. Flattery is easy. Usefulness is harder.

04

Fixed price, fixed scope.

No surprise invoices. No scope creep billing. If we quote it, that is the number. The only way it changes is if you change what we agreed.

05

Referral-based for a reason.

We take on maximum 5 projects at a time. That is not a marketing line. It is how we maintain quality. Most of our clients come from someone who was happy.

06

Small is not second-best.

An Australian small business with a sharp digital presence beats a large competitor with a tired one every time. We have seen it happen repeatedly.
